Toastie Tapas

Today I bring to you my experience of what some may consider a bread eating challenge.
Now, I love bread as much as the next carb fiend, but that is not the sole purpose of this post.
I am thrilled to announce to you that the other day, i ventured out on a specific mission to find and buy a toastie making machine.. and that I did.
Now like most of you I'm sure; I already owned a toastie machine of sorts.. be that a 'lean, mean, fat reducing, grilling machine... or a simple toaster supplied with toastie bags, but this was not enough.
When I was younger, we used to have a toasted sandwhich maker which squashed the bread into two triangles, cooking the filling inside as it did and toasting the outside to a beautiful golden brown. It was delightful.
Unlike everybody I have mentioned this to, I did not have ham and cheese toasties, I had bean toasties. Just beans. Nothing but beans. (did I mention it was purely beans?) & so after craving a bean toastie for about a week. I decided to get myself the means to make one. Just like I used to have.
I also felt that the love of bean toasties needed sharing, and so I took my bean machine to my boyfriends and cooked/warmed/toasted up a storm.
We made 5 varieties of toasties for many reasons.. one being, I LOVE ALL THE FOOD, but most importantly, so that I could prove to my doubting boyfriend that sometimes, simple really is best (when related to bean toasties.)
And so, I present to you, some serious toastie inspiration.

Fresh Figs, Goats Cheese & Honey | Ciabatta
A real mixture of flavours that complement each other perfectly. It's creamy, juicy, sweet & still a little tart. Mmmm

Chicken, Goats Cheese & Pesto | Ciabatta
The classic flavour combo, tried & tested, full of basily goodness.

Chorizo, Mozzarella & Spinach | Thick Sliced White Loaf
Salty chorizo, oozy mozzarella, crispy bread, tasty spinach... sunshine in a sarnie.

Beans | Thick Sliced White Loaf
The one I'd been waiting for. In between a pastie and a sandwhich...absolute comfort food. Does what it says on the tin (& so so so much more)

Banana & Chocolate Buttons | Thick Sliced White Loaf
Because my boyfriend can't hack any more savory sandwiches. Mushy, sweet, and perhaps a bit stodgy (but maybe that's the million pieces of bread I've just eaten)

After struggling to finish my last mouthful, I made the difficult decisions of ranking these in order of preference, and here's what I ended up with:

Joint 1st: Chorizo, mozarella & spinach & Beans! ( I'm not giving up on you beans.)
3rd: Figs, goats cheese & honey
4th: Chicken, goats cheese & pesto
5th: Banana & chocolate buttons

And in case you were wondering if my boyfriend is a bean toastie convert?

His 1st: Chorizo, mozarella & spinach
His 2nd: Chicken, goats cheese & pesto
His 3rd: Figs, goats cheese & honey
His 4th: Banana & chocolate buttons
His 5th: Beans

I failed, but don't take his word for it. Try it yourself!
(& let me know if you do!!)

This Air Bubble Right Here: It's Gonna Make Me Fly

Oh Hey Friends,

So I decided to graduate slightly from my previous outfit post background... to one that's about a meter to the left. Slightly more interesting than a brown fence perhaps?
I also finally mustered up the courage to buy some trainers ; leaving behind me the fears which I once held... and I am SO happy I did. I was originally looking at getting some new balance but just didn't feel like they suited my style. If I'm honest, when I first looked at the Nike Air Max, I really didn't know if I'd ever be able to incorporate them into an outfit, but then I came across these all black Air Max 90's and fell a little bit in love. Since buying them I don't actually think I've worn anything else on my feet! They're so comfy and make me feel like I'm walking on clouds - which is pretty sick.
Boohoo Dress, Topshop Jacket, Nike Air Max 90's

I also wore this Boohoo dress for the first time since buying it many months ago. I always loved it but hadn't worn it as I felt a little self-conscious : I didn't feel like the shift dress shape particularly flattered my body shape (ie: child bearing hips & more than occasional food pouch) Nontheless, I finally took it out for a spin for a chilled evening at my boyfriends making -and of course eating - about a million toasties with my new toastie maker (Post still to come). By the end of the night my food pouch had grown significantly and I couldn't wait to change into some comfy pajamas and rest my exhausted body which had just about given up due to over consumption of bread. All thoughts had disappeared and only left me with;
The dress must go.
The trainers can stay.
Mmmm toasties.
However, I think I could definitely wear the dress again, perhaps of an evening for a few drinks or maybe on a nice day for a picnic? (why does everything revolve around food?) ((stupid question))

I also realised whilst battling with self timer in a spare ten minutes I had before rushing out that it would be super cool to have a photographer friend to help take the photo's. Or even better, a willing clotheshanger for me to photograph.

How do you go about taking your outfit posts? Do you take them in different places or try and keep everything consistent with the same location?

Style Trial :Sports Wear

I came up with this idea about a week ago, but what with life going a bit haywire at the moment, I simply haven't had the time to blog! (cry)
Anyway, So I thought I'd start posting 'style trial' blogs, maybe once every few weeks. The idea being that I buy an item of clothing or an accessory which is a little (or a lot) out of my comfort zone, and try and style it in a wearable way. I thought this would give me a bit of a friendly nudge into lots of various styles and well, I seem to be an unstoppable shopper so I may aswell not spend ALL my money on jumpers and most recently... hats.

I've always been envious of those that rock the sports lux look with ease. I've always been concerned that I'll look more 'occasional gym go-er' than the girl with sick style. That's not to say I don't completely LOVE it. Since recently becoming a visual merchandiser at work, (yay) I've been styling a lots of sports wear and giving it a sophisticated edge, and I've been falling in love with some of our more sporty pieces. And so, with this new lust in mind, I headed out shopping on Saturday and picked up a few (quite a few) new items for the old wardrobe! One of which was this super cheap bomber! At a money saving £22.50( okay.. so I'm not actually 'saving' money but y'know.. nearly) , I really couldn't resist!

I styled it with a new co-ord that I also bought on Saturday, and some Boohoo Heels that I've been dying to wear!
At this point, I'd also like to point out that I wanted to make the look really sporty, but a)I'm still waiting for one of my purchases to be delivered and b) I thought this was an easy way to incorporate the sports bomber into an outfit that I didn't have to buy especially for the trial - which I think makes it a successful purchase!

Forever 21 Bomber & Dress/co-ord, Boohoo Heels

(Oh Hey there Sand)

How do you add sports clothing into your wardrobe?
